With the increasing uptake of Cloud-based services and virtualized network functions (VNF), data centers are replacing the telco central office as the crossroads of the next-generation network.

The critical nature of the information that they hold in their custody requires ubiquitous access and rapid distribution of data and applications to ensure a seamless end-user experience.

Because of the central role data centers play, they face several key challenges in developing high performance and cost efficient network connectivity for themselves as well as their customers. The number of servers and switches inside a typical data center makes the issues of space, power and cooling more critical than in other market segments. The need to move and store terabytes and even petabytes of data on a daily basis requires high speed connectivity between locations both near and far as well as a way to monitor and manage that traffic from end to end.

EKINOPS understands the need for efficiency in the data center and we have designed our solutions to deliver the highest capacity possible using the least amount of resources. Compared to the fixed-configuration devices that have flooded the market and are designed for the "Big Six" data center operators, the EKINOPS C200HC equipped with the PM 200FRS02 has the flexibility and capacity to address any size DCI application. Our DCI solution provides up to six 200G channels — 1.2 Tbps — per 2RU device of 300mm depth while also being able to support 10G and 100G transport rates allowing data center operators to right-size their bandwidth for locations with lower traffic requirements in the same platform. For additional flexibility, operators can also mix 10G and 100G clients on a single 200G wavelength using our PM 100G-AGG module.

The EKINOPS DCI solution can connect up to 125 Km in a single span without using in-line amplifiers, and up to 10,000 Km without need for regeneration so it can connect to any location whether it’s another data center across town or a customer across the country. What’s more, EKINOPS DCI solution can deliver this performance with the lowest power in the industry — 0.3W per Gbps! As a modular solution, operators can match their network capacity and power usage to their transport requirements while port-based growth in 10G, 40G or 100G increments provides maximum flexibility as your network scales.
