2 x10G Transponder, 10G Regen, or 10G Transponder with Protection

PM C1002

Pluggable dual 10G transponder with a two multiprotocol SFP+ client ports. Dual pluggable XFP line side ports with DynaFEC. Used for long haul transport of 10G services. Line side ports can be used in 1+1 configuration for protection of a single 10G client port.

The EKINOPS PM C1002 can provide either two 10G transponders, one 10G regenerator, or one 10G transponder with onboard line protection. It supports both 10G Ethernet and 10GSONET/SDH (OC-192/STM-64). The EKINOPS PM C1002 is a cost effective alternative to deploying individual 10G transponders or to deploying a single 10G transponder with a separate optical protection switch (OPS) module for line side protection. The EKINOPS PM C1002 is also ideal for applications that require a regenerator at a location today that may one day have to be converted to an add drop site. The EKINOPS PM C1002 can be deployed as a single regenerator today and then be software configured to a dual transponder at a later date to convert the regeneration site to an add-drop site. This can be done without the need for additional modules.

In order to accommodate its different modes, the EKINOPS PM C1002 provides two client interfaces and two line interfaces. The two client interfaces are SFP+ interfaces and the two line interfaces are standard XFPs (fixed or tunable). The following figures show how the EKINOPS PM C1002 is configured in its various modes:

The EKINOPS PM C1002 module can be managed through SNMP orvia the EKINOPS standard element level management interfaces, which include a Command Line Interface (CLI) and an EKINOPS java-based Graphical User Interface (GUI). The CLI is accessible via Secure Socket Shell (SSH) and Telnet remotely or via a local serial port locally on the management board.

Complete performance monitoring and management are provided, including laser shutoff and local and remote loopback, useful for maintenance and fault isolation.

Digital Diagnostics Management (DDM) is supported for SFP and XFP interfaces. This includes link status, transmit (TX) and receive (RX) signal power monitoring, and operational temperature, as well as manufacturer and transceiver model information essential for inventory management. A 10 Mbps in-band Data Communications Channel (DCC) is embedded in the line side for remote management.

The EKINOPS PM C1002 module is also supported by Celestis NMS, the EKINOPS advanced Network Management System.

Because of the flexibility of the EKINOPS PM C1002, it can be used for a multitude of applications. It can be utilized in any application that requires 10G Ethernet or SONET/SDH transport. Ideal applications for the EKINOPS PM C1002 include backhaul for Business Ethernet Services, IP DSLAMs, PON or broadband DLCs (Access Aggregation), Triple or Quadruple play and Wireless Backhaul (3G/4G). The EKINOPS PM C1002 is also ideal for general transport infrastructure builds.
