Ecritel, a leading French Internet service provider, has selected the EKINOPS optical transport platform for deployment in its fiber-optic network in the Paris area, EKINOPS announced today. EKINOPS designs and manufactures optical transport, DWDM, CWDM and aggregation solutions.
Ecritel's decision was based on the flexible architecture of the EKINOPS platform and its ability to handle dynamic increases in capacity. Ecritel is deploying a robust and economical DWDM network for transporting Gigabit Ethernet traffic in a metro optical network. The EKINOPS solution includes the PM1008 that uses time division multiplexing (TDM) to aggregate and transport up to eight channels of Gigabit Ethernet or GFC traffic over a single OC-192/STM-64 10 Gbps wavelength.
The PM 1008's aggregation capabilities enable service providers and enterprises to reduce the number of wavelengths used in CWDM or DWDM networks, reducing costs while increasing transport capacities. The PM 1008 module offers 1+1 protection and can reach distances up to 250 kilometers using forward error correction (FEC) and long haul optics.
"Ecritel experienced significant growth in 2006 and has become a leading provider for IT services," states Frédéric Leduc, Chief Technical Officer of Ecritel. "To meet the growing demand for capacity from our fiber networks, it was necessary to upgrade our existing WDM equipment. The EKINOPS solution allowed us to evolve our network and respond rapidly to our customer's need, while keeping the costs well within our budget."
Leduc added that the responsiveness of the EKINOPS team was an important factor in Ecritel's decision.
"Ekinops' optical transport solutions allow service providers and private network to seamlessly migrate their networks with next generation DWDM equipment," says Didier Bredy, CEO of Ekinops. "We are excited about the opportunity to work with a growing company like Ecritel. Upgrading existing WDM networks requires compatibility and flexibility and our platform offers that plus an economic advantage that is highly desired by our customers."
EKINOPS (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI), a leading supplier of optical transport equipment and router solutions, today announces the launch of the EKINOPS Channel Partner Program (ECPP). The program has been designed to support value-added resellers (VARs) and system integrators to differentiate in the market by providing them with the opportunity to build, sell and deliver solutions tailored to their customer needs, while still benefitting from the Ekinops’ extensive knowledge, resources and expertise.
EKINOPS (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI), a leading provider of open and fully interoperable Layer 1, 2 and 3 solutions to network operators, has enabled Ceská Telekomunikacní Infrastruktura (CETIN) owner of the largest telecommunications network in the Czech republic, to extend the market for high speed business connectivity, by introducing access equipment that both accelerates and extends the reach of Ethernet services delivered over existing copper plant.
EKINOPS (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI), a leading supplier of telecommunications solutions for telecom operators, today announces the signing of definitive agreements, subject to conditions precedent, to acquire the OTN-Switch (Optical Transport Network) platform developed by Padtec, an optical communications system manufacturer based in Brazil.
