Ekinops, a leading provider of optical transport, announced today that François Xavier Ollivier, COO of Ekinops, has been re-elected to the board of directors of the Media and Networks cluster. As co-founder and COO of Ekinops, Mr Ollivier was first elected unanimously in 2007 to the same position for the small and medium-sized companies’ college. His re-election demonstrates the confidence and the satisfaction of the Cluster towards Mr. Ollivier.
Created in 2005, the Media & Networks cluster brings together industrial managers and researchers from the Brittany area whose goal is to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of this part of France to media and networks companies. They do this by:
“We are entering the second phase of the Cluster with a new team and an ambitious program for the next three years. As a representative of the cluster, particularly in this economically challenging period, one of my top priorities will be to strongly support the small and medium-sized companies that are part of the cluster,” declared Mr. Ollivier.
The Media and Networks cluster consists of large companies (such as Orange and SFR), small and medium-sized companies (such as Ekinops, Teamcast, Sodius, and Satimo) and universities or research organizations (such as CNRS, INRIA, Rennes 1 University, Telecom Bretagne, and Supelec). Beyond its role as a technology showcase for the media chain, the Cluster aims to develop innovative wireline and wireless network and next generation Internet technologies, products and services, creating employment through industrial applications of these technologies.
