EKINOPS accelerates its growth in 2007 and opens new offices in the UK and Asia

Ekinops, a leading provider of optical transport and DWDM solutions, grew significantly in 2007, having increased its revenue close to fourfold over 2006. The company has recently moved into larger premises in the city of Lannion, France, and appointed two key executives who will be heading new offices to open early next year in the UK and Asia.

Ekinops' strong growth throughout 2007 was due to several contracts with telecom carriers both in Europe and the US. In September 2007, EKINOPS raised $20 million to strengthen its sales and customer-support departments and to fund its international expansion.

The sustained growth of EKINOPS has led the company to move into larger premises in Lannion, in the province of Brittany, a well-established cluster of competitiveness in France's telecom sector. The new corporate headquarters is being inaugurated today. Company founders, managers and employees, customers, suppliers and partners, together with local officials and journalists, are attending the event.

Early next year, EKINOPS will open new offices in the United Kingdom and Asia, which will complement existing offices in France (Lannion and Paris) and throughout the US.

  • The UK Office will be responsible for new business development targeting the core UK and Irish markets. It will be headed by Andrew Tobin who brings to EKINOPS hands-on knowledge of the local market, and a very successful track record in sales. Ten years ago, Tobin launched and developed ADVA operations in the UK with great success. He also has a strong technical background in optical transport, in addition to proven management skills.
  • The Asia-Pacific office will be based in Singapore and will target Asian telecommunications service providers. This office will be headed by Marc Olivier, a seasoned professional with more than 10 years experience in Asia based out of Singapore. Olivier previously held senior executive positions with Level 3 Communications and BT, and over the last 5 years was BT sales director servicing the needs of carriers and service providers in Asia. Olivier not only knows the region well, he brings to EKINOPS a wealth of experience in marketing, sales development and distribution, both direct and indirect. Olivier is a graduate of the ENST Paris, the leading Telecom Engineering and Business school in France.

"We are very glad to welcome such high-level professionals to Ekinops. They are joining a team of the highest caliber and will bring their in-depth knowledge of the telecom industry together with a successful track record of developing new business in their markets," said Didier Bredy, EKINOPS chairman and CEO. "They are both successful pioneers and we are counting on them to further boost EKINOPS' expansion to new markets," Bredy said.
