EKINOPS today announced the appointment of Didier Bredy as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Bredy will use his extensive experience in marketing and sales to accelerate EKINOPS' global expansion.
EKINOPS sells next-generation optical network equipment designed to facilitate the aggregation and transport of high-capacity Ethernet (GbE and 10 GbE) and Fibre Channel traffic directly to the DWDM or optical layer of the network. As such, EKINOPS simplifies the network by offering a smooth transition from SONET/SDH transport to more efficient Ethernet-over-DWDM transport for the delivery of bandwidth-intensive IP services, including video, data and voice.
"I am very excited to join EKINOPS at this time. Its tremendous expertise in optical networks and breadth of aggregation and transport solutions allow service providers to increase capacity and revenue from their fiber networks," said Bredy. "In fact, EKINOPS already has deployed 500 systems in Europe and North America because customers have found that our unique, programmable hardware platform gives them significant cost savings and a highly scalable offering for the rapid deployment of 10Gbit/s solutions."
Prior to Ekinops, Bredy served as VP and general manager of the software and services division of Ingenico, the leading provider of secure transaction and payment solutions. Before Ingenico, Didier was CEO of a VC-funded startup, Ivex, a multimedia technology company providing advanced networked video solutions.
He also played a key role, as VP of marketing, in the turnaround of Truevision (NASDAQ: TRUV), the inventor of the TARGA video system, and lead the marketing unit at Pacific Data Products, a very successful startup in the printer industry. Didier started his career at Xerox, holds an engineering degree (MS in computer science) from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications of Paris and an MBA from San Jose State University.
Ekinops' founder and interim CEO, François Xavier Ollivier, will now serve as Chief Operating Officer and remains a director on the Board. His 25 years of experience in R&D of submarine and terrestrial optical transmission remains key to EKINOPS' continued product innovation.
"We are very excited to have Didier on board. His expertise will greatly enhance our company," commented Ollivier. "Our main objective is to continue the rapid growth of business and Didier has the right background and approach to help us do exactly that."
