Ekinops Cloud DocAsCode is an internal open-source initiative for building shared knowledge between customers, engineering and lead users on some telecom-based cloud applications for SD-WAN, NFV and optical SDN.

The Ekinops Cloud DocAsCode community manager will be accountable for ensuring the availability of product line documentations. The successful candidate will work closely with R&D managers, product line managers, architects, product marketing teams, customer support teams, and R&D engineering teams to coach, engage, govern, and promote diversity and inclusion in building a structured activity of contributors.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a member of the SDx&Cloud department with a team of 65 engineers, you will report to the R&D Senior Director and be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of high-quality English user documentation, you will collaborate with each product line within the department and be held accountable for its availability.
  • Engaging with stakeholders both within and outside the R&D team and managing regular communication and outreach through various channels such as internal GitLab repos, Jira, emails, chat rooms, and open GitHub repos.
  • Developing and implementing an onboarding process for new community members with diverse backgrounds and assisting in communicating the process for contribution.
  • Organizing and managing GitLab and GitHub repos and issues and reviewing and updating contributions for clarity and contributor-friendliness to sustain the success of self-achievement and willingness to contribute.
  • Reviewing, prioritizing, and tracking user requests and feedback from various channels mentioned above and assisting with outreach to potential new users.
  • Organizing and managing community working groups to address specific goals and tasks along with Git-centric tooling.
  • Arranging virtual and in-person events for the community, such as online meetups, workshops, and group trainings.
  • Advocating for community needs during roadmap planning and guiding developers, stakeholders, and community members in documenting agile user stories, technical specifications, networking design, and user guides.

Profile and skills

Minimum of two years post-secondary education or relevant experience with:

  • Experience and interest in working with open-source projects and communities
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy, valuing diversity and working with communities
  • Enjoy Linux and git tools
  • Understand modern documentation tools using md/rst (MarkDown, reSturcturedText), Sphinx engines.
  • Be active in contributing to a new leadership activity made of DevOps tools
  • You do not need to be a software developer.
